European Union, established by the Treaty of Maastricht on 1 November 1993 upon the foundations of the pre-existing European Economic Community, is the most developed international organization in Europe, whose member states contain 27 democratic European countries. After the end of the Second World War, moves towards European integration were seen by many European countries to work for peace and prosperity. Since then, many attempts and efforts were made to harmonize the various systems and beliefs, including Customs Union, Common Agricultural Policy, Single Market, European Monetary Union, and so on. All the movements thus contribute to the formation the European Union today. For the recent years, EU has devoted to developing the mutual relationship between EU and other countries, to enhancing the academic exchange and the civil societies between EU and other countries, to advertising EU values, and to promoting EU image in the world.
